". . . my reason for putting out this book is to show you how to gain almost complete control of the drum set. There is probably no such thing as complete control; we are all dealing with certain barriers which restrict our possibilities. Control means, for example, of being able to move an offbeat from the snare to the hi-hat or the hi-hat to the ride cymbal and still be able to play the other three parts against it with a minimum of applied reading. Many times, reading itself becomes a barrier, as it becomes too difficult for many students to read four parts spontaneously in our minds - - - not simply concentrating on just the main thought - - - as three or four parts play through our subconscious. With alot of determination and work with the book you can gain what I call almost complete control over the four moving parts. This is not to learn styles, but to learn control" . . . Dick Demers
